Since our inception in 1999 we have worked hard to produce Shakespeare to the highest production standards, working with professional artists from all over the world.
Working with Shakespeare throws up enormous challenges, for actors, technicians, designers and directors alike. We have always believed firmly that our productions should be accessible, beautiful, and relevant - and we will continue to work in 2006 and beyond to meet these standards.
Peter Brook, the legendary Shakespeare director and producer, once likened the works of Shakespeare to a piece of coal. You can write about the appearance of a lump of coal, its history and chemical composition, but it is only when the coal is burnt that it has purpose and energy. We very much hope that our productions have the purpose and energy that Shakespeare deserves.
